A briefing outlining the extent and multiplicity of health inequalities among people in contact with the criminal justice system. The briefing, which has been developed by Revolving Doors Agency, the Probation Chiefs Association and Public Health England is intended to support Directors of Public Health as they assume significant new responsibilities for improving the health and well-being of their local population. It offers guidance to Directors of Public Health in fulfilling a leadership role to deliver on the cross cutting priorities of improved health outcomes and reduced reoffending, leading to safer communities. It outlines keys steps, and examples from areas around the country, that Directors of Public Health can take to deliver on this agenda.
