Offender health strategy launched

The new Offender Health Strategy, Improving health, supporting justice: The National Delivery Plan of the Health and Criminal Justice Programme Board, was published today.

The Health and Criminal Justice Programme Board was established following Lord Bradley's review of people with mental health problems or learning disabilities in the criminal justice system which reported to the Government in February and was published in April. This Offender Health Strategy incorporates Lord Bradley's recommendations as well as responses to an earlier consultation, also called Improving Health Supporting Justice. You can read Revolving Doors' response to this earlier consultation here.

This strategy is limited to adults in contact with the criminal justice system. The strategy for children in contact with the youth justice system is expected later this year.
