Service mapping methodology
Having developed an initial set of criteria to use, a pilot of the service mapping project was undertaken, which focused on a single city in England.
Having refined and defined the eligibility criteria, a wide-ranging review was undertaken to identify services who:
- Work with adults (including young adults aged 16-25)
- View reducing re-offending and/or improving the health and wellbeing of their clients as one of their key aims
- Have a significant proportion of their clients in repeat contact with the criminal justice system
- Address the whole range of their clients' needs.
These services were then classified further into those that are:
- designed exclusively to address multiple and complex needs
- focussed upon offering a single issue support service, but that seek to address the whole range of their clients' needs.
We have drawn on a wide range of sources to compile the data for the service mapping project, including a publicised call for evidence, extensive searches of service area directories and internet searches informed by our knowledge in the field.
