Project description

This service aims to prevent people with mental health problems living in Islington who are involved, or at risk of being involved, in crime, from becoming homeless.

St Mungos work jointly with Islington's Safer Neighbourhood Team (Police) and other agencies involved in the Safer Islington Partnership, and are able to provide early intervention and a holistic service. Other agencies include Homes for Islington (registered social landlord), Highbury Grove Crisis Centre, the Drug and Alcohol Action Team and the local Primary Care Trust.

We hope that this way of working, and the lessons that have been learned, will be replicated by other local authorities across London

The service helps people to access the support services they need to find different paths and opportunities away from crime, making a visible difference to the community

The service is funded by the Big Lottery, Section 64 Department of Health and Safer London Foundation.

The scheme was praised in the Bradley Review as exceptional.
